Troubleshooting
Identify whether failure occurs during startup, licensing, layout loading, data access, output, or updating. Follow the smallest relevant checks instead of repeated reinstallation, full-batch reprinting, or reimporting.
Preserve the complete message, time, version, and actions first. For printing, RFID, automation, and imports, stop new tasks and reconcile what has already been submitted/written. A pause does not recall queue jobs or establish a complete database rollback.
| Symptom | Section | First action |
|---|---|---|
| No window or immediate exit | 7.1 | Confirm actual runtime and preserve events; avoid multiple instances. |
| License expired/unavailable or features restricted | 7.2 | Separate product license, account, and role; preserve the license. |
| Timeout, missing provider, database login failure | 7.3 | Check target, method, architecture, and identity. |
| Layout/synchronization failure | 7.4 | Identify type, source, version; inspect a copy. |
| Empty or unexpected record counts | 7.5 | Separate query scope from interface filters; do not recreate people. |
| Missing/wrong photo or edits disappear | 7.6 | Identify source and save target; use one demonstration record. |
| No output, wrong person, unchanged status | 7.7 | Separate software, queue, device, physical card, and writeback. |
| Imposition quantity/position/direction | 7.8 | Check command, paper/card geometry, and transformations. |
| Import duplicates/failures or incomplete export | 7.9 | Preserve source/results and inspect keys/completed items. |
| Update stalls/cancels or subsequent startup fails | 7.10 | Determine stage, preserve installer messages, avoid mixed files. |
Change one factor at a time and record results. Writes, configuration replacements, recovery, and test output need approval and isolated copies/materials. Stop production and contact maintenance for wrong-person photos/chips, duplicates, batch failures, or uncertain rollback. Examples are fictitious, not production settings or proof of automatic repair. Normal operations are in Chapters 4-5; backup/log collection is in Chapter 6.
